Editing is very creative and enjoyable component of the production process. Some talented editors enhance the value of the film many times. No double the editor is limited by the quality of the pre-production and production work but if sufficient footage is there and the film is technically shot well, then sky is the limit for an editor.

In a film, the shots are taken in the sequence of the scenes numbers or even shot numbers. The director might choose to shoot the climax first, then middle or beginning. It all depends upon the availability of the location, actors or many other factors. Then it is the Editor who puts the film in sequence, chops off the unnecessary footage and makes the film crisper in guidance from the director.

Course Overview

Our editing curriculum is an exciting mix of the latest softwares and wide variety of practical experiments, which will make the student more adapt to the industry needs of becoming a good editor. The course curriculum is such that it elevates the student from the level of an operator to that of an editor.

Adobe Premiere

This is one of the most commonly and perhaps the most easy to use editing software available in the market, which gives the editing student a chance to clear up the basics of editing

Photoshop

  • Basics of Photoshop.
  • Files- opening, importing, saving, exporting, File Formats and their spheres of usage.
  • Tools Techniques to show Depth.
  • Colour Correction
  • Filter effects
  • Photo Effects / Photo Retouching

Final Cut Pro

This Apple’s creation is present in almost all of the major studios around the world. This makes it one the most sought after editing softwares in the world.

Motion

This composting software works wonders when combined with the editing power of FCP.

Each and every software will be concluded with a student project which will be later on added in their respective show-reels.

 

SCOPE

Be it a News channel, Animation production house or film production house you cannot think of doing without an editor. With mushrooming of the television channels, the demand of the good editors has become manifold. These days it’s the fundamental need of every news producer or documentary maker to know the skills of editing.

Mukta arts, UTV, Nimbus Communications, Sahara Group Sony, Walt Disney, Sur Network, PTC, BMS, Universal, Indiatimes, Zee Telefilms, Star Channel, ADLabs are a few of the reputed companies absorbing editors.

Advertisement is an industry that also cannot work without competent editors.

We have a highly creative, enjoyable and a lively environment where the students of Direction, Acting, Cinematography and Animation programs interact and work together as a team. Special workshops will revolve around building sense of Comedy Timing. Qualified faculty from Indian Film Industry (Bollywood) is invited from time to time to speak on the latest techniques. With 1:5 Mad Arts has one of the best teacher-student ratios.

Practical training with the correct mix of theory and visuals help make the basics clear. Knowledge about Adobe Premier, FCP, After Effects, Motion, Adobe Photoshop is given to the student when they create short films, music videos or documentaries.

Students get to edit and be a part of in-house projects like ‘THANK YOU JIJA JI’ in which some parts of the rough cut was done by the students.
